July 4th, 1994, started a series of events that would forever change Baraboo, Wisconsin. 14 year old Christian Steiner went missing, and after a week of looking for him, search and rescue found his body on a sandbar in the Wisconsin River. An autopsy revealed that both of his legs had broken, and his method of death was drowning. Investigators and family members were left with many questions; what had led Christian to leave his home, how had he ended up here, and how did he end up in the water with two broken legs? While he had clearly died by method of drowning, his cause of death was left listed as “undetermined”.
Things quieted down, and a little over a year later, a family moved into a new house, with a 13 year old son named Thadius Phillips.
