King Henry VIII

It has been estimated that during King Henry the VIII’s rule over England he executed up to 57,000 people. Victims of Henry’s turbulent reign fell into three categories: heresy, treason and denial of his Royal Supremacy as Head of the English Church. Many faced a swift beheading with an axe, however those accused of heresy, witchcraft and treason saw a far worse fate.
